Youth Skills Development Organization (YSDO) is a highly capable, government-aligned regional NGO with an established operational presence across Galmudug State, Somalia. Since its inception, YSDO has demonstrated exceptional institutional capacity to design, implement, and scale inclusive development programs focused on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), youth employment, women’s empowerment, digital innovation, and community resilience.
YSDO operates under a robust organizational structure comprising over 40 full-time staff and 100+ technical trainers and field facilitators, supported by an active Board of Directors, technical experts, and local advisory committees. The organization’s geographic reach includes Galmudug, Jubaland, and Hirshabeelle States of Somalia, ensuring deep community integration and operational flexibility.
The organization’s institutional framework is anchored in strong governance and operational systems:
Facilities: 6 fully equipped vocational training centers and 2 modern youth tech hubs.
Monitoring & Evaluation: A fully functional M&E framework supporting real-time data collection, performance tracking, and impact assessment using mobile tools and digital platforms.
Finance & Compliance: Donor-compliant financial and procurement systems that meet international standards, with transparent, audit-ready reporting mechanisms.
Partnerships: Official collaborations with five key Galmudug ministries, including Education, Labor, Health, Women and Family Affairs, and Humanitarian Affairs, ensuring strategic alignment, local ownership, and policy coherence.
Tools & Technology: Use of digital beneficiary tracking systems and data-driven programming to enhance accountability and effectiveness.
YSDO has successfully implemented multi-year, high-value programs in partnership with globally recognized donors including UNICEF, ILO, UN Women, GIZ, EU Trust Fund, AfDB, UN-Habitat, and GYIN, delivering over $13 million worth of development interventions across the region.
These programs have directly impacted more than 20,000 beneficiaries, including youth, women, returnees, and vulnerable groups, through skills training, enterprise development, reintegration support, and digital empowerment.
